Sunisa Lee won the women’s all-around gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday, continuing the U.S. dominance in the event. Since 2004, a member of the US gymnastics team has won the all-around championship at every Olympic Games.
When Simone Biles (Simone Biles), Lee became the best chance for the U.S. team to win gold Exit event Focus on her mental health. The 18-year-old from Minnesota came forward in the absence of Byers, ahead of the silver medalist Rebeca Andrade of Brazil.
Lee led with 57.433 points. Andrade scored 57.298, followed by Angelina Melnikova of the Russian Olympic Committee with 57.199.
Jade Carey of the US team finished eighth with a score of 54.199.

In her first Olympics, Lee won the gold medal with the U.S. team at the 2019 World Championships. She is the silver medalist of floor exercise and the bronze medalist of uneven bars in this event.
Lee and the U.S. team won the silver medal in the team final on Tuesday.
One of the four gold medals that Byers won at the 2016 Rio Olympics came from the all-around event. Gabby Doublas of the US team won the all-around gold medal in 2012. Nastia Liukin won the gold medal for the US team in 2008, and she was previously the 2004 gold medalist Carly Patterson.
