Dak Prescott is not ready to participate in the NFL game. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback ended the season with an ankle injury in 2020 and will be forced to miss the team’s first exhibition game in 2021.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has ruled out Prescott from participating in Thursday’s Hall of Fame game against the Pittsburgh Steelers because the caller was signaled to deal with a shoulder strain. McCarthy said the team is taking a step back and taking a conservative approach to its franchise quarterback.
Prescott will not pitch in practice this week.
McCarthy said: “We still have the same views on the types of injuries, but we are more conservative about the schedule,” Via USA Today. “After research and observation, we just don’t want it to become a major event. He is doing everything he can, but we are more conservative in recovery.”

Prescott may have been sitting during the exhibition game, even if he is perfectly healthy. Starting players usually do not participate in the annual Hall of Fame games, which are held before the first week of the preseason.
