Republican John Cox has said that he will continue to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico to solve the drug crisis in California.
Cox is One of 46 candidates Compete for the seat of the state’s Democratic governor Gavin Newson In the upcoming California recall election.Cox made comments in the debate on Wednesday night, which included four candidates who were dismissed.
A host of the debate asked all the candidates how they would prevent drug cartels from bringing “large amounts of cocaine and deadly fentanyl” into the United States.
“First, we need to end the nonsense of the country’s asylum states. We need to enable the local police to communicate with ice [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] And the Border Patrol,” Cox replied. “We absolutely need to build a wall along our southern border, all the way. California State Assemblyman Kevin Kiley (Kevin Kiley), also a candidate, said that he will again convict drug use as a felony in the state. In 2014, California voters passed Proposition 47 criminalizing the personal use of most drugs as misdemeanors.
Former U.S. representative Doug Ossey stated that he will “establish a stricter inspection system at the border.” He said the state needs to do something about its many methamphetamine laboratories. He also advocated increasing ways of detoxification and providing police with drugs to help prevent people from dying due to drug overdose.
Former San Francisco Mayor Kevin Faulconer responded to this question. He said: “I want to put the victims first and I want to put the criminals in jail.” He did not specify that he would take drugs. The addicted person is regarded as a victim or a criminal. Then he shared a story that a local pharmacy closed because too many drug addicts gathered outside the store, thus depriving the elderly of the opportunity to take medicine.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s 2020 National Drug Threat Assessment, in 2019, legal authorities seized more fentanyl from California than from any other state. In the same year, the amount of cocaine seized in California ranked second among all states in the United States.
According to DEA’s assessment, cartels are the “biggest threat of drug crime” in the United States. The assessment also determined that Los Angeles is one of the main transportation points for cartel drugs in the United States.
