After raising more than $100 million in growth equity capital, patient participation company Relatient plans to use part of the funds to acquire the startup Radix Health. The deal will use Radix’s machine learning software to build Relatient’s existing platform for patient-provider matching, automatic referrals, and schedule optimization.
The two companies did not disclose the terms of the transaction, and the transaction is expected to be completed this month.
Relatient, based in Franklin, Tennessee, has built a solution for healthcare providers, from appointment scheduling to registration and patients. After the pandemic begins, being able to communicate effectively with patients is the key, from communicating information about this new virus to providing information about masking and helping to sort before appointments.
CEO Michele Perry said that the pandemic has pushed the patient participation roadmap forward for a year or two.
She wrote in an email statement: “During the pandemic, hospitals, health systems, and medical clinics have significantly increased the use of text-based communications to help cope with the changing dynamics.” There is a growing demand for patient access solutions such as Radix Health, which can help solve the backlog of patients with delayed care by increasing capacity.”
In addition to funding the acquisition, Relatient also plans to use part of the funds to take full advantage of current opportunities. For example, Perry said the company hopes to add more than 30 people to its 225-person workforce.
