The number of COVID-19 cases in Florida continues to surge, with the total number of single-day cases hitting a record high.
On Friday, the state health department Report There were 134,506 new cases of COVID-19 in the week from July 30 to August 5. This is the highest number of cases in any other 7-day period during the pandemic.
On Saturday, Florida reported 23,903 COVID-19 cases in a record day. The second-highest single-day total was Thursday, with 22,783 cases reported.
Florida is breaking pandemic records every day, not just being hospitalized. It is the state with the fastest increase in cases of all states, and now exceeds 90 per 100,000 Floridans.

Since mid-July, the surge in Florida has continued. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Florida once accounted for one-fifth of the nation’s new infections—more than any other state.
Georgia and Louisiana also experienced surges, which increased the pressure on hospitals. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported last week that Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana accounted for nearly 40% of U.S. hospitalizations
Dr. Mark Knapp, chief medical officer of the Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, Florida, told the Associated Press on Wednesday: “In terms of visiting patients, we have seen an unprecedented surge.” “This is the absolute number of simultaneous entries. Only so many. The beds, so many doctors, only so many nurses.”
In July, an estimated 83% of new COVID cases and 97% of people hospitalized with COVID-19 were not vaccinated. The highly infectious Delta variant is responsible.
According to the Mayo Clinic, 59.4% of Florida has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
In Jacksonville, the pastor of Impact Church told the local media that in less than two weeks, six church members died. All are healthy but not vaccinated, and 4 of them are under 35 years old.
Governor Ron DeSantis (Ron DeSantis) is facing increasing pressure and needs to take stronger measures to contain the surge. DeSantis has been criticized for not issuing instructions on masks.
Senator Bill Cassidy told CNN on Sunday that local officials in Florida should control the rules for wearing masks.
In Florida, @GovRonDeSantis insist:
There is no mask requirement.
There is no vaccine passport.
There are no school rules.
There are no local restrictions.
There is no emergency.
There is no daily data report.
There is no status test.
There is no “COVID-19 harassment”.
