A bitch who lost all her litters adopted 10 puppies from her mother who had recently passed away. Their rescuers say that their combination gives mothers and newborn cubs the opportunity to connect and learn from each other.
When a dog named Bobby recently gave birth to a litter of cubs, it ended in tragedy. Bobby died, leaving 10 newborns.
Poppy was adopted through Ruff Start Rescue, an animal rescue center in Princeton, Minnesota. She was adopted by the Johnson family. After Bobby’s death, the Johnsons knew they had to act quickly to keep her newborn cub alive.

“We were crazy about our next steps with babies,” Poppy’s adoptive parents Lexi Johnson told KARE. “All night, my husband and I get up every 3 hours to eat something from the stomach… it takes more than 1.5 hours each time.”
But soon, the Johnson family heard of another bitch who had recently experienced her own tragedy. A dog named Pepper laid an entire litter in a nearby reserved property, but none of the cubs survived.
Feeling that the two might need each other, the Johnsons invited Pepper’s breeder to bring the dog to their house. They wanted to see how she would react to the cub.
Johnson said that as soon as he entered the room containing the puppies, Pepper immediately sat down next to them. Lexi Johnson then began to place the puppy next to Pepper, who was lying on his side. Johnson said that feeling her presence, other puppies began to wander towards her and began to breastfeed.
“I cried again last night, but these tears are tears of happiness,” Johnson said in a statement. Facebook postal. “Tears knowing Mom Bobby would be very grateful to Pepper for taking over the role of Mom.”
Johnson shared this story and photos with Ruff Start Rescu, and the shelter shared this story with their followers. The puppy adopted by Pepper cannot be adopted until the end of the month. Despite this, the shelter stated that several people have come forward and offered to adopt a few cubs.
But for now, there are some important connections between the orphans and their newly adopted mothers.
