New York (Associated Press)-Actor and singer Ai Wenying is known for his touring on Broadway and films such as “Pacific Overture” and “Song of the Flower Drum” and “The Gambler”. He has passed away. He is 89 years old.
According to a representative of Mosaic PR, Ing died of complications from COVID-19 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California on July 31.

Ing is a native of Honolulu and a U.S. Army veteran. He is an advocate for the Asian American Pacific Islander community in the entertainment industry, including an active member of the American Asian Performing Arts Theater. He holds a master’s degree in music education from Columbia University.
Telly Leung, a Broadway star who performed with Ing, said in a tweet, “Without his leadership and courage, a generation of Asian performers would not have come to this day.”
The Actors Rights Association tweeted for him: “Ai Wenying is not only a pioneer, he is also a source of inspiration for a generation of performers. He will be missed.”
