Don Everly, the last surviving member of the music duo Everly Brothers, died last weekend at the age of 84.
The band that combines rock and country music is Acclaimed for influencing the Beatles, The Beach Boys and Simon and Garfunkel.
The pair achieved great international success during their heyday in the 1950s and 1960s. They later experienced a painful breakup on stage in 1973, and then reunited 10 years later. Both Don and Phil Everly pursue individual careers, but they can never reach the height of their collectives.

“Wake Up Little Susie”-No. 1-1957
Another hit song “Wake Up Little Susie” written by the Kobes for their brothers is an international hit, which ranks first in the Canadian charts, third in Australia, and second in the United Kingdom.

“All I have to do is dream”-Issue 1-1958
This song was once again composed by Kobe and his wife, but it was sung by Everly Brothers, and it topped the charts in the United States.
“All I Have to Do Is Dream” was later widely covered by Richard Chamberlain, Donny Osmond, Andy Gibb and REM. The Everly brothers also collaborated with British singer Cliff Lee. Chad co-published his version in 1994.

“Bird Dog”-No. 2-1958
“Bird Dog” tells the story of Johnny, he can be as sweet as a bird, but also like a dog trying to steal the singer’s girlfriend.
It may not have topped the Billboard Hot 100 list, but it did maintain the first place on the Billboard Country Chart for six weeks.
“Dedicated to You”-No. 10-1958
The B side of “Bird Dog” and “Dedicated to You” also squeezed into the top 10 in the United States.
Twenty years after its release, Carly Simon and James Taylor re-released the song, with some success in the United States and Canada.
“Question”-No. 2-1958
As the top 10 hits in the world, “Problems” is the band’s follow-up work after “Bird Dog”. In 1958, Phil Spector’s “The Teddy Bears” ranked it first.
“(Until) I kissed you”-No. 4-1959
“(Till) I Kissed You” is Everly Brothers’ first song to enter the top 10 in the US charts. This song was not written by Bryants. Don Everly composed this track, which was later adapted into a reggae song by several artists.
“Let It Be Me”-No. 7-1959
“Let It Be Me” is an English cover of Gilbert Bécaud’s 1955 French song “Je t’appartiens”.
Many music icons later performed their own versions, including Sonny & Cher, Nancy Sinatra, Tom Jones, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone and Willie Nelson.
‘Cathy’s Clown’-No. 1-1960
Everly Brothers started this decade with great success. With “Cathy’s Clown”, they won their first single number one in two years. Don Everly wrote this song, which was their first release on Warner Bros. Records and later became the best-selling single of their career.
The song remained No. 1 for five weeks in 1960, and was later sung by Reba McEntire in 1989.

Phil Everly’s first song “When Will I Be Loved” to enter the top 10 was released in the summer of 1960. It was originally supposed to be released when signing with Cadence Records, but re-recorded after signing with Warner Bros. Records.

Another song by Everly Brothers was covered and re-released by a different artist. “So Sad (To Watch Good Love Go Bad)” is another hit song written by Don.
By the end of the 1960s, Hombres, Dillard and Clark, and Brian Hyland all covered the song.
‘Walk Right Back’-No. 7-1961
Sonny Curtis wrote this hit song for the brothers who only reached number 7 in the United States but topped the charts in the United Kingdom for three consecutive weeks
Curtis wrote the second verse for the brothers to sing, but they recorded it before they heard it, and instead repeated the first verse again.
‘Ebony Eyes’-No. 8-1961
“Ebony Eyes”, released with the song “Walk Right Back”, is the band’s second B-side track, which also won the band’s top 10 in the United States.
This song tells the story of a man who lost his fiancée in a plane crash. The song was originally banned in the UK because the lyrics were considered too disturbing to be broadcast on the radio in 1961.
“Crying in the Rain”-No. 6-1962
The only song “Crying in the Rain” co-written by Carole King and Howard Greenfield was a hit song by the Everly brothers in 1962. The song became popular again 19 years later, this time by country music singer Tammy Wynette.

The Everly brothers hardly knew that this 1962 song was taken from the album The Golden Song of Everly Brothers Will be the last top 10 in their career.
