Wendy’s stated that by mid-September, it will offer new and improved “French Fries” on the menus of all its restaurants.
The question of “who has the best fast food French fries” has appeared at least once in everyone’s life. With the continuous changes in the fast food industry, the new French fries are Wendy’s way of stepping up.
Compared with the existing French fries that were last improved in 2010, the new French fries will retain more calories and maintain crispness for a longer period of time.
“One side is thicker for insulation, and the other side is thinner. This is really to enhance the crispness, because we know our customers want hot and crispy fries every time,” Wendy’s senior expert Emily Kessler Cooking and innovation in one Zoom press conference Thursday.
The cooking team spent several months developing crisper fries, and they claimed to beat McDonald’s fries in the taste test.
“Emily and the entire cross-functional team have spent months, months, and months perfecting the best hot, crispy French fries,” said John Li, Wendy’s Vice President of Culinary Innovation. “We finally have it. … We have put in a lot of effort for this, paid a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but the fries we got in the end are almost two to one with our main competitor McDonald’s. Preference, this is very exciting.”
Wendy’s president Kurt Kane told CNN business In an interview, they added multiple steps to achieve the crispness they wanted.
“What we did was to balance the dicing of the French fries and to reserve a bit of potato skin on the French fries to enhance the flavor. We used a batter system that allowed us to keep it crispy, both when they were removed from oil. When it’s fresh out of the fryer and a few minutes later,” he said.
The fast food chain said that French fries can stay crispy for up to 15-30 minutes, which helps increase the demand for takeaway services. Keeping food fresh when it reaches customers has become a new challenge for all chains.
Kessler said at the Zoom conference: “We know that COVID has changed the rules of the game when it comes to how our customers get food.” “This has accelerated development to ensure that our fries can withstand the demands of this delivery experience. .”
French fries will be available in the United States and Canada.
