Experience the new Allbirds environmental performance clothing series

Allbirds is known for its sustainable and comfortable shoes, but the company has also been producing responsible clothing products. It has shirts, jackets, sweaters and even underwater. Now, it adds more clothing options.

Allbirds is gathering around its running shoes and releasing a series of new performance apparel. At the beginning, women will have more projects than men. The new series starts with women’s natural running tank tops, natural leggings, natural cycling shorts, natural running shorts and natural running tank tops. Then there will be men’s Natural Run T-shirts and Natural Run Short.

I personally experienced men’s Natural Run Short and Natural Run T-shirts to see what Allbirds offers for runners.

Allbirds performance clothing fits and feels

I tested the Men’s Natural Run T-shirt and Natural Run Short. They are available in men’s and women’s sizes. The Natural Run T-shirt is priced at $58, while the Natural Run Short is priced at $68. The shorts are not lined, but have pockets.

Out of the box, every piece of clothing has a modern and stylish appearance. Each of them has a rough feeling towards them. The texture in the hands is not offensive, but I would not describe it as soft. It is almost impossible to guess that shorts and T-shirts are made of nearly 50% Merino wool. This is the iconic material of Allbirds, and attempts to develop cleaning products that are less harmful to the earth.

In the seersucker field, T-shirts feel crumpled, but not quite. It is light and airy, enough to make the white slightly transparent. Due to the texture and material, it does feel a bit hoarse, but it is never irritating.

Natural Run Short also has a faint sense of stiffness to them, and wrinkles during their exercise. It doesn’t make me want to hang out in my clothes, but it immediately shows that it can handle moisture.

After washing, although there is not much change, everyone’s feeling is indeed softer. Both the T-shirt and shorts met my expectations and were comparable in size to other brands of running clothes.

Running performance

I ran a few times wearing a Natural Run T-shirt and Natural Run Short, and ran different distances. Everyone performed well on the road. There is no restriction on exercise, and the clothes do not distract from the task at hand.

There may be some small question marks around the shorts because they have pockets but no lining. In this regard, they seem to be more suitable for casual runners than for people who run on race days. You may want some compression shorts to wear under these, but Natural Run Short will fit these well.

The side pockets are a bit strange because they don’t have any zippers or methods to ensure they close. This means that they will not be very good at carrying a mobile phone or any other important items during the run, as it may fall off. Including side pockets certainly won’t hurt anything here, but I’m not sure if they also add anything.

Interestingly, this shirt also has a pocket, but it looks more practical. On the right side of the shirt, along the bottom, there is a small bag, the size of which is just right for a box of wireless earplugs. Using it for earplug boxes or keyrings with one to three keys will cause some bumps, but the pockets are deep enough that they shouldn’t pop out. The pocket may be able to hold a small purse, but a thin shirt may not be able to withstand that much weight.

In terms of performance, Natural Run Tee seems to be able to handle sweat well. It gathered a bit in the ribbed texture, but I did not notice any unfortunate side effects. Every time you go out, the overall ventilation nature is refreshing.

Should you buy Allbirds Performance Apparel Collection clothing?

The products I have tried from Allbirds’ new clothing line for runners are reliable products. If you are a fan of Allbirds’ previous clothing choices or even its shoes, then these high-performance clothing is likely to be suitable for you. Offset carbon footprint is an admirable product feature.

Both Natural Run T-shirts and Natural Run Short seem to be well-made and perform as advertised for running. If you need them, these two items don’t have a smooth and silky feel, but they should be able to handle sweat well.
