A customer of McDonald’s in Canada died after an “abnormal accident” on the Driveway Highway in Edmonton. A man was crushed to death by his vehicle.
event It happened at around 5:30 on Wednesday afternoon, after a man arrived at DriveSpeed to place an order. However, after paying for the meal at the window, he dropped the bank card on the ground and tried to pick it up.
When the customer opened the door to retrieve the item, the vehicle continued to roll forward, sandwiching the driver between the door and a structural part of the restaurant and crushing him to death.
Police officer Tania Visintin of the Vancouver Police Department revealed that emergency rescuers tried to save the man’s life but failed. His identity has not yet been made public.
“First responders tried to bring this man back to life, but unfortunately, he died on the spot. This is definitely a heartbreaking scene. We express our deepest condolences to this man’s family and friends,” She said in a statement.
“People are not used to seeing this type of incident happen, especially in your workplace. I think everyone is shocked.”
Victim services will be provided to McDonald’s Employees who may be affected by the accident.
Visintin pointed out that this was an unusual accident because only one car was involved. The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Team will cooperate with the BC Coroner Service to investigate the incident.
“Usually, when we hear of fatal motor vehicle accidents, [is] Usually, it is usually a collision with another car. Therefore, there is no fact that other vehicles are involved…this seems to be an unusual accident,” she explained.
