Lemon Roast Cod Ingredients
This section explains how to choose the best ingredients for grilled cod in lemon butter sauce, the role of each ingredient in the recipe, and alternative options. For measurement, please refer to the recipe card below.
- Cod – I prefer wild cod, but you can use any kind of cod. Look for fillets that are about 4 ounces each and similar in thickness so that they cook at the same speed. I prefer thicker fish fillets, it dries less.
- butter -Give so much flavor! I prefer grass-fed unsalted butter. But if you need a dairy-free version, you can use olive oil instead.
- lemon – You need a fresh lemon (not bottled lemon juice) because we use lemon juice and lemon juice.
- Garlic powder – For convenience, I use garlic powder, but if you want, you can replace it with a few cloves of fresh minced garlic or crushed garlic.
- Sea salt and black pepper
- coriander – I use curly fresh parsley, but flat leaves work well.If you want, you can also substitute or add fresh dill, just like I did in my Grilled Salmon Recipe.
Variety: Try other spices on your cod! chili, Lemon pepper to taste, Or chives all go well with fish.

How to bake cod in the oven

- Thaw the cod fillets. This is not absolutely necessary, but if you thaw first, it will be easier to brush the lemon butter on the cod. Since the fragments are not too thick, they thaw quickly in a bowl of water.
- Pat dry. Remove the fillets from the packaging and pat dry with paper towels.
- Make lemon butter. Melt butter in a shallow bowl in the microwave (or a pan on the stove), then add fresh lemon juice and lemon zest.

- season. Line up the cod in a row Bakeware, Then brush the lemon butter mixture on both sides. Season with garlic powder, sea salt and pepper on both sides.
hint: Make sure your baking pan is large enough. The fish fillets should not be touched, or only touched very little, in order to cook evenly.

- Grilled cod. Cook until the cod fillets are opaque and peel off easily with a fork. If needed, garnish with lemon slices.
hint: For the tenderest fish, check the internal temperature. It should be 140 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit, measured at the thickest part Instant reading thermometer.

- service. Drizzle the fish with lemon butter sauce in a pan and sprinkle fresh parsley on top. (See below for ideas on what to pair with!)

What is the temperature of the grilled cod?
At what temperature should cod be cooked? There are many options for cooking temperature, but I like 400 degrees Fahrenheit because:
- Cooking at higher temperatures means faster cooking and less chance of drying out.
- This is a standard temperature, and the cooking time can be easily estimated based on the size.
hint: The general rule of thumb is to cook the fish for 10 minutes per inch of thickness. However, it may still be different, so only based on the thickness, please check a few minutes before you need it.
