A YouTuber’s video of creating a real Squid game set has been viewed nearly 3 million times on social media.
YouTube star MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, 23 years old, teased in the video Twitter Create a suit inspired by Kpop music Netflix Drama squid game.
The clip shared on Saturday showed several people painting and operating vehicles around the set, which seemed to replicate the same stage in the episode “Red Light, Green Light”.
Donaldson said in the post: “The cost of recreating the squid game is higher than I thought, but I am going to stop now, haha [laugh out loud] (Sic). “
As of Sunday morning, the video posted on Twitter has been viewed 2.9 million times and has been liked more than 257,200 times.
In a post on November 3, Donaldson shared photos of other scenes he saw on the show, and added: “Squid game sets are gathering. Good luck to the 456 contestants next week.”
However, Donaldson made fun of his project for the first time when he uploaded a video to his TikTok page in October and said that if the post gets 10 million likes, he will remake the squid game.
As of Sunday, the clip spread quickly and received an impressive 77.4 million views and 17.6 million likes. Donaldson claimed that his video received 10 million likes in 11 hours.
According to reports, Donaldson explained that he would choose his TikTok fans to participate in his squid game
YouTuber, who has 73.9 million subscribers on the platform, said the project paid a huge price.
According to the media report, he said that the production of the video “costs more than $2 million (it could easily become our most expensive video).”
Weekly newspaper Donaldson has been contacted for comments.
The Korean drama “Squid Game” has become Netflix’s most popular debut ever, with 111 million accounts in less than a month after it went live.
This high-stakes drama focuses on a small number of 456 players who compete with each other in a life-and-death game to eliminate their financial debts and get rich.
It is regarded as an allegory of Korean class differences and a critique of capitalism in East Asian countries.
However, the popularity of the show was rated as TV-MA, which led the education protection team in Central Bedfordshire, England to send emails to parents urging them to “be alert” to the version of children playing games on the show.
The email shared last month read: “Recently there have been some worrying reports about children and young people’playing’ squid games in schools.”
