The latest episode of “Saturday Night Live” covers some of the most controversial moments that occurred last week, including the COVID-19 infection of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers.
This episode is hosted by actor Kieran Culkin, with musical guest Ed Sheeran as the leading role.
In addition to current events, the “Weekend Update” also involved more COVID-19 news, and the host appeared in the lively weather report.
Here are some notable sketches from episode five “SNL” Season 47.
Cold open
The first sketch of the iconic NBC comedy show features a mock interview and a new Donald Trump. At the beginning of the evening, Cecily Strong played Fox News anchor Jenny Pirro interviewing Rogers, played by Pete Davidson.
Earlier this week, Rogers revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 and was not vaccinated. “Our first guest was a brave American who stood up bravely and said,’Fuck you, science, I know Joe Logan!'” Strong said when introducing Davidson’s Rogers.
Similar to the real Rogers, Davidson said he was attacked by “waking thugs” but insisted on telling his teammates that he was not vaccinated.
“I never lie,” Davidson said. “I squeezed all my teammates together so that their faces were three inches away from my wet mouth, and then told them,’Trust me, I am more or less vaccinated. Go, team!'”
The cold start also touched on the victory of Virginia Governor-elect Glen Youngin played by Alex Moffat. In reality, Yang Jin, who was supported by Trump, tried to distance himself from the former president in the short play.
Trump and Moffat, played by new actor James Austin Johnson, watched on a split screen and tried to attribute the victory to himself. “I just want to congratulate Glenn Yankin, and especially myself, for the great victory in Virginia,” Johnson said.
Moffat then asked to quit the split screen.Trump later commented on various topics, including Chris PrattPlays Mario, “Star Wars” and Marvel’s “Eternal Race”.
Weekend update
this “SNL” The fake news section interviewed Ice Cube, played by Kenan Thompson, who left the Sony comedy “Oh, Hell No” after refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Thompson told co-host Michael Che that he was not interested in complying with and obtaining vaccines like the rest of society. “Hey look, man. I’d rather be myself than vaccinate like your other 3 billion idiots,” Thompson said.
When Che pointed out that Ice Cube had failed in making the movie, the actor insisted that the whole world was cheated because he couldn’t see his work.
“It’s not my loss, it’s your loss.” Oh Hell No’ will feature the greatest comedy duo of all time: Ice Cube, Jack Black,” Thompson said.
“Comedy Chemistry, buddy. Do you know what I’m talking about? Try to guess my slogan.”
Ice Cube continued to reveal that he has other projects in progress due to vaccine regulations.
“The point is that this task is making the world pay for my art. I have packed a bunch of other projects in the pipeline. Check it out, idiot,” he said.
“If you like “Barbershop 3: The Next Haircut”, you will love the sequel “Barbershop 4: A Little Outdated”.” But now we can’t do it. “
Weatherman
Culkin played the role of a weatherman while mocking Rhode Island’s news broadcast for covering a huge northeast.
“I’m Turkish Tom,” Culkin said. The actor revealed that he was wearing a turkey suit, “because today is the first day the thermometer drops below 40.”
Culkin then began to rap to celebrate the change of seasons, but when a voice announced the coming storm, he was shocked. “Expect life-threatening winds and floods,” a computerized voice said. “May God have mercy on your soul.”
Culkin admitted that he lost the ball while studying the weather report. “I wrote rap all night last night. Costumes, lyrics, and so on,” he explained.
As the situation continued to deteriorate, other new anchors expressed their concerns about the weather, and Culkin apologized for missing Easter. However, he chose to stick to his costume in case anyone wanted to hear the rest of his rap after the storm.
Actor Jonathan Majors will host the next episode of “Saturday Night Live”, and Taylor Swift will be the guest of music.
