According to the Associated Press, a former Louisiana Sheriff may face life imprisonment after being convicted of sexual abuse.
Jack Strain, who served as the Sheriff of the Diocese of Santa Manni for 20 years, was charged in 2019 with eight sexual crimes against young boys. He was found guilty on November 8 after the jury heard the statements of five victims who had been abused by Strain when they were children. Contingency did not testify.
“You hurt me in many ways,” one accuser said. “You are a monster and a predator.”
Another victim called Strain a coward. According to the Associated Press, one of the victim’s consultants testified that he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and night terrors, while another victim stated that the abuse caused the drug abuse problem.
Strain also faces federal charges of a prisoner’s job release contract related to his sex crime case. The co-defendants who pleaded guilty in the case accused Strain of torturing him before continuing to work for the former sheriff as an adult and were forced to assist him in completing the contract. Strain pleaded not guilty to the federal charges.
The local news media NOLA stated that Strain did not show any emotions during the entire trial, and only showed some emotions after the verdict was reached. After hugging his wife and children, he was escorted out of court.
North Shore District Attorney Warren Montgomery said: “The evidence is convincing, overwhelming and convincing.”
Strain was charged with four counts of serious rape, two counts of serious incest, and one count of sexual assault and indecency with a teenager. He will be sentenced on January 18.

Serious rape will be sentenced to life imprisonment. These allegations include crimes that occurred before and during his tenure as sheriff.
The 58-year-old Strain served as the Sheriff of St. Tammany for 20 years, but lost his sixth term in 2015.
A victim of Strain said that as an adult, he went to the sheriff’s office to work for Strain when he was heavily in debt.
The jury heard testimony from five men who said that Strain broke their childhood with behaviors that still haunt them.
The other accuser, a family member of Strain, said he was sexually harassed in the second year of high school.
