Former Japanese princess Mako Komuro gave up her royal status to marry a “civilian” because of love, and officially left Japan with her husband for the United States on Sunday.
Japan Broadcasting Corporation recorded the departure of the married couple from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. The camera showed them boarding the plane, as many people tried to capture her farewell.
Komuro and her husband Kei Komuro, who graduated from Fordham University Law School and worked in a New York law firm, arrived at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Xiao Shi has not passed the bar exam, which makes Japanese experts question their marriage. Japanese imperial family members have no authority, but some people think they have a say in their choices because of the taxes they pay to support them.
The Japanese imperial family used to give up their identity to marry a commoner, but as some people doubted whether Komuro must support her husband, Komuro’s marriage attracted attention on social media.
The couple has always been open to their commitment to the relationship.
“He is the one I can’t live without,” Komura Said When they talked about her husband when they announced their marriage a month ago. “Marriage is a decision we need in life, true to our heart.”
