Nearly two hours after the shooting on Friday, yellow criminal tape surrounded the parking lot, and anxious parents waited to be reunited with their children outside the high school campus.

When the students were allowed to leave the building, TV footage showed them walking peacefully and hugging their parents in the parking lot on the other side of the school, where the victim was shot.

In Monday’s shooting, six students from Aurora Central High School were the victims of a driving shooting. The police have not yet arrested anyone. The two schools are 3 miles (4.8 km) apart.

The victims of Monday’s shooting, boys and girls ranging in age from 14 to 18, are expected to survive, but police chief Vanessa Wilson said on Tuesday that two of them were “seriously” injured and needed long-term Recovery.

The police said that many cartridge cases fired with different guns were found at the scene of the shooting on Monday. It is possible that someone fired some bullets on foot. The police said they had found one of the two cars involved in the shooting.

Police Chief Vanessa Wilson said after Monday’s shooting that everyone should be angry about gun violence, which she called a public health crisis.

“Right now there are violent crises all over the country, so I think we all need to pay attention,” she said.
