SEATTLE-It seems that Seattle City Councilman Kshama Sawant will overcome her attempt to recall her.
As of press time, Sawant won by a narrow margin.
Sawan, a 48-year-old economics professor, is the longest-term board member.
“Whether we win or lose, we should not forget that the ruling class has been chasing us because we have shown how to win for the working class,” Savant said after the preliminary results were announced on December 7. “Not once, not twice, but an unprecedented victory again and again.”
If Sawant survives the recall, it will be a boost to Seattle’s extreme left-in last month’s general election, Seattle’s extreme left experienced a setback when a business-friendly candidate won seats in the mayor’s office and council. .
If Sawant is removed, the other eight city council members will appoint a replacement until a special election is held in November next year.
For Savant’s supporters, these allegations are excuses for large companies, developers, and commercial real estate interest groups to try to overthrow legislators who oppose them.
