We all need salt to survive. But there are many types of salt out there. Which are the healthiest? Which should I avoid? How about the taste and cost?

salt It is 97–99% sodium chloride. During the refining process, trace minerals and other natural substances have been removed. Add an anti-caking agent to keep the salt from clumping together. Iodine is also often added. Have you ever wondered why?
Iodine is an important element for maintaining normal thyroid function. Iodine deficiency can lead to cognitive problems, decreased energy levels, and weight gain. Processed foods often do not contain iodine, so in order to get iodine back into our diets, manufacturers add it to our salt. Salt preserves iodine. And because everyone uses salt, we all add some iodine to our diet.

Eating unprocessed foods, especially seaweed, is a more natural way to get iodine. Also, trying to get all the iodine from salt can lead to unhealthy levels of sodium in the body.
Many people find that they have a strong craving for salty foods. This may be due, at least in part, to the highly processed nature of table salt and other modern foods. In nature, salt is more than just sodium chloride. It is a mixture of minerals. Your cravings for salty foods may be your body’s way of asking for more minerals. But processed salt does not contain these minerals. We continue to consume and crave salt, but mineral deficiencies persist.
Table salt isn’t a bad thing in limited amounts, especially if you’re eating other mineral-rich whole foods. It’s also very affordable. But it’s probably the least healthy salt on this list.

popcorn salt Just regular table salt. The only difference is that the salt grains are smaller. This makes it easier for them to get stuck in the small pockets and curves of the popcorn. You can make your own table or other salt and blend it in a coffee grinder.

Kosher salt also lacks additives, making it more natural than regular table salt. However, it is also deficient in iodine. Cooks often prefer kosher salt due to its mild flavor.

Pink Himalayan Salt

Table salts like this, and those that follow, each have their own flavor. Because they are relatively unrefined, they will contain small amounts of material from the area where they were harvested. This gives each person a personality. (I tried salt flower forward. My point of view? It’s very salty. I’m probably not the best person to ask…)
celtic sea salt
This salt comes from the Celtic Sea in Brittany, France. It is harvested through 2,000-year-old methods and contains more iron and less sodium than many other salts. celtic sea salt From the same region of France as fleur de sel. These people really take their salt seriously.

black salt
Black salt is not actually black. It is pinkish grey. black salt, also known as Kala Namag, mined in India and commonly used in Southeast Asia. It has a strong sulfurous smell and is popular with vegetarian cooks for its egg-like taste.
Hawaiian Black Lava Sea Salt

This black salt is really black. It’s also one of the most unexpected salt types on this list. Hawaiian Black Lava Sea Salt It is made of evaporating seawater mixed with volcanic rocks. Have you ever thought about sprinkling some volcanoes on your food? Volcanic rocks contain activated charcoal for detoxification and aiding digestion.
Hawaiian Red Salt
Hawaiian Red Salt is a mineral-rich sea salt that is said to contain 80 different minerals. Its color comes from its very high iron content. It forms when seawater gets trapped in tide pools of red clay and then evaporates. Hawaiian red salt has a mild flavor and is highly valued by chefs. One downside is that Hawaiian red salt is usually expensive.
Persian blue salt
Persian blue salt Possibly the rarest salt in the world. It is mined from only one place in the world: the Iranian city of Gamsma. If you really want to impress your friends, this is the salt for you. But be prepared to shell out some cash.
This salt is usually added after cooking, so one can appreciate the unusual color. The blue-violet color comes from the potassium mineral potash. Persian blue also contains other minerals such as calcium, magnesium and iron.

Epsom salts
Epsom salts Consists of magnesium sulfate. It is not a table salt, although it is sometimes taken internally for its laxative and detoxifying properties. Epsom salts can also be used to rejuvenate undernourished plants. Dissolve 2 tablespoons of Epsom salts in 1 gallon (3.79 L) of water to supplement plant feeding. Don’t spill it on your baked potatoes!

There are several different techniques. One way is to put 1 part fresh herbs in a food processor and add 1/3 part salt. Use any type of salt you like. Pulse this mixture a few times and taste the results. Continue adding salt in small amounts until the desired saltiness is achieved.
Spread your vanilla salt on a sheet of paper and let it air dry for a day or two. Alternatively, you can place the vanilla salt on the lowest setting in the oven and let it dry for an hour or two, stirring halfway through.

Salt helps keep herbs dry and prevents them from going bad.
Common herbal choices include rosemary, parsley, celery, oregano, thyme, coriander, dill, basil, and mint. But don’t overlook more uncommon options like lavender, juniper berries, and rose petals. You can also use seaweed for vanilla salt. This will replace some of the sodium chloride with potassium chloride. Read the explanation below.

You can replace some of the sodium with potassium salts to reduce the effects of excess sodium intake. Potassium is also good for the heart and can help remove excess sodium from the body. Just remember to leave some sodium in your diet. Sodium is an important element for your body.

Seaweed is the best natural source of potassium salts. As a bonus, seaweed contains several other important elements such as magnesium, calcium, and iodine. Seaweed also contains natural glutamate, which enhances the taste of food.
