  • The Royal Thai Army becomes the second international AH-6 customer.
  • Scheduled for delivery by 2024.

Boeing has been awarded a $103.7 million contract by the U.S. Department of Defense as part of a foreign military sale to Thailand for the sale of eight AH-6 light attack reconnaissance helicopters.

The contract also includes spare parts, training equipment, support equipment and technical publications for the Royal Thai Army.

The deal paves the way for the Royal Thai Army to replace its aging AH-1F Cobra fleet as part of the country’s defense modernization efforts. The aircraft will be produced in Mesa, Arizona, with deliveries scheduled for 2024.

“We welcome Thailand’s selection of Boeing’s AH-6 light attack reconnaissance helicopter and look forward to working with the U.S. and Thai governments as part of the foreign military sales process,” said Jessie Farrington, director of business development for the Attack Helicopter Program. “From an unrivaled power-to-weight ratio to an extensive integrated digital communications suite, the AH-6 offers exceptional performance, capability and versatility and will be a force multiplier for the Royal Thai Army.”

Thailand is Boeing’s second international customer. Boeing has been a trusted partner to Thai aerospace and defense customers for more than 60 years.

A beneficiary of the ongoing AH-64 Apache modernization effort, the AH-6 is equipped with an advanced mission computer capable of processing large amounts of data and rapidly sharing system information with the rest of the aircraft – improving safety and situational awareness, and speeding decision-making speed, reduce pilot workload and reduce support costs throughout the aircraft life cycle.
