Google search trends show how customer expectations are changing

A new report from Google includes data on how customer expectations are changing and sheds light on what people can expect from businesses this year.

According to a comparison of search volumes from 2021 to 2022, trends show that customers want everything faster and Later.

If a customer is out shopping in person, they want to be able to shop late at night, and if they shop online, they want the item to arrive as soon as possible tomorrow.

They also want new experiences from businesses, such as the ability to take pets out to dinner.

The data in the report is provided by Google Ads Research & Insights The team analyzed billions of recent search queries.

Staying abreast of consumers’ changing expectations can help your business better meet their needs, ensuring they continue to choose you over your competitors.

This report provides insight into how customers express their needs when they find information on Google Search.

You can satisfy your customers where they are in Google by emphasizing some of these key phrases on your website or listing.

Below are key insights from Google’s report on the latest developments in consumer behavior and market trends.

Rising Consumer Expectations

Consumer expectations for new experiences, services and ways to shop continue to rise, with increasing searches for:

  • “Late night shopping”: A year-on-year increase of 100%.
  • “24/7 Customer Service”: A year-on-year increase of 500%.
  • “Dog friendly restaurant”: A year-on-year increase of 100%.
  • “Flowers the next day”: a year-on-year increase of 800%.

These trends underscore the immediacy that consumers expect to own a product.

Also, they want extended customer support hours after purchase.

When out and about visiting local businesses, customers expect more of the comforts of home. Such as the ability to bring their dog to a restaurant.

If your business meets these needs, make sure it’s featured prominently on your website so searchers can find you.

Consumers are eager to get out of the house and enjoy some in-person activities again.

Search volume is on the rise:

  • “Cinema near me”: A year-on-year increase of 300%.
