*This is a collaborative post.

To enrich your child’s communication, you can help them build their vocabulary. By learning new words, they will be able to communicate with others more effectively and excel in their learning.To help, we provide some Hampton Preparatory School About helping children learn vocabulary.

using words in everyday life

Learning and discovering new words is great, but having the opportunity to use them in everyday life helps make them part of your child’s vocabulary. They will understand the right situations to use them and use them correctly.

One word wall

For each word your child learns, add it to a poster on their wall. This will motivate them to learn more and ensure they don’t forget them too.

read together

Books cover all different genres and fields, giving children the opportunity to learn about the world around them. As a result, they learn new words and their applications. If your child starts to read, hearing your reading will teach them the words and help them as they try to mix words.

spelling challenge

Every week the children are given fixed spellings at school. Challenge them to use the spelled word at least a certain number of times a day, which will help them learn at school and encourage them to use the spelled word every day.

tool

Tools like Word of the Day can also introduce new words into your child’s vocabulary. You can download the app to their tablet or device. This is a very simple but effective way to increase your vocabulary. One year later, they have learned 365 words!

synonym challenge

Synonyms are words that have the same meaning as other words and are a good starting point to help your child build their vocabulary. They already know the meaning, which makes the job of learning new words easier. They can do this by creating their own little dictionary of synonyms.
