Last quarter, Google pushed the adoption of one of its newest event types: Performance Max.
Until now, these campaigns could only be created in the online Google Ads interface. On March 29, Google launched Editor v2.0 to support this activity type.
Newly supported features
Performance Max support isn’t the only update to Google Ads Editor. The major updates for this release are:
- Performance Max campaign support
- Transformative Action Group
- Campaign level overview
- Combined segment support
- Asset report
- Custom Action Trigger Support
Let’s dive into these features.
Performance maximum support
The first enhancement to Google Ads Editor is support for Performance Max campaigns. This means you can now create and edit Performance Max campaigns in the offline editor program.
This enhancement saves you time creating new campaigns or needing to make quick edits to them.
Transformative Action Group
Google Ads Editor v2.0 will now support conversion goals. This means you’ll be able to change target settings and apply them at the campaign or account level.
It’s also a simple view of which conversions belong to which campaigns, making the process of editing them easier.
Event overview
In the Overview tab of Google Ads Editor, you can now see a similar overview of the current online interface. Some of the new overview cards added are:
- custom rules
- optimization score
- Popular campaigns
Combined segment
Another major update to Google Ads Editor v2.0 is the ability to create and edit portfolio segments. Previously, this could only be done in real-time in the online interface.
Asset performance
With the new asset support in v2.0, you will be able to get reports on different assets. Especially with default responsive ads in search and display ads, this feature can help you compare assets of the same type at once.
This support can ultimately speed up the analysis process for your campaigns, which means you can spend more time on actionable optimizations.
Custom Action Triggers
Until now, automated rules or tasks could only be created online.
You can now run custom rules when events or conditions you specify occur. This can be anything from a keyword or ad group bid adjustment to pausing your entire campaign based on your threshold.
generalize
If you’re used to using Google Ads Editor, now is the time to upgrade to version 2.0. By adding these features and support, you’ll spend less time switching back and forth between platforms and reduce repetitive tasks. On the other hand, you’ll spend more time focusing on your client’s analysis and strategy.
