FARNBOROUGH Airshow Returns Strongly After 4 Years of Planning

By Andrew Drwiega, Farnborough

After four years, the 2022 Farnborough Airshow (July 18-22) is returning to live visitors this summer, and that time has changed a lot. Speaking exclusively to Armada International, Joe Muir, commercial director of Farnborough International, the show’s organizer, said a key component was the delegation program to bring international governments, including military leaders, to the Groups come together with the international aerospace industry.

“The civil and defense aerospace industries are also challenged to see Farnborough as a broader business development context, not just during the airshow,” Moore said. The advantage of Farnborough, Muir said, is that the smallest parts makers can meet the largest international OEMs.

After more than two years of Covid-19, getting stronger again is what civil aerospace companies hope to achieve. Defense procurement is back on the agenda as many governments pledge to increase defense budgets in Europe and further afield due to the vulnerabilities highlighted by Ukraine’s ongoing war.

Muir explained that the 2022 Farnborough International Airshow will have four central themes: Sustainability, Space, Future Flight and Future Workforce. These topics and more will take place over the course of the week, especially at the inaugural Aerospace Global Forum, which will run for five days and promises an “immersive experience” for attendees.

The Farnborough Airshow’s live TV FINN Live will also be broadcast during the show to provide instant coverage of news and events for those unable to attend in person.

Muir also highlighted the return of the Bahrain International Airshow (November 9-11), which was established more than 10 years ago and is organised by the Bahrain Ministry of Transport and Communications in conjunction with the Royal Bahrain Air Force. Two themes at this year’s show will be the future of airports and airlines (a key theme for many commercial airlines in the region) and women in aviation.
