What kind of meat is pork ribs? Probably not what you think! Surprisingly, boneless beef ribs aren’t actually rib meat. They are cut from the chuck or shoulder, but they are hard to find. Short ribs with bones come from the abdomen and are much fatter than boneless ones. Both types of ribs are very tough cuts of meat, but if cooked properly, you can cut them open with a fork.

Basic ingredients:

  • Boneless Beef Short Ribs – Buy boneless ribs, but if you can’t find them, many butchers will actually remove the bones from the boneless ribs for you, which is what I did for this boneless ribs recipe. You can also make it with bone-in chops if you prefer – you just need to add 10 minutes to the cooking time.
  • sea ​​salt & Black pepper

  • beef soup – Instant Pots always need some liquid for pressure cooking, and beef broth is one of the tastiest options.For a richer sauce and more nutrition, use bone broth.

How to Cook Ribs in the Instant Pot

  2. Deglaze. Add beef broth and coconut aminos to the pressure cooker and stir with a spoon to scrape up the delicious brown bits on the bottom. Return the ribs, along with the bay leaves (if using), to the lid and seal.

  1. Thicken the sauce. Simmer the sauce with gelatin powder on the Saute setting (it’s easy and worth it!).

Do you have to brown the ribs?

you do not Have Brown the ribs. But you should! Browning takes just a few minutes and helps add rich flavor to pressure cooker ribs. It makes a huge difference!

Can you make slow cooker ribs?

Yes, you can make the same easy ribs recipe in the slow cooker. Low takes about 8 hours and High takes about 4 hours. However, it’s cleaner because you have to grill the short ribs individually on the stove first.

Storage Instructions

  • Shop: Store leftover beef chops in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  • Reheat: Reheat ribs and sauce in oven, covered with foil for best results. You can microwave it, but be careful not to overcook or the meat will dry out.
  • freeze: Place chops in an airtight container and refrigerate for 2-3 months. Let the ribs cool completely, then place in a freezer glass dish. Cover with sauce/cooking liquid and freeze.

Instant Pot Ribs:

  1. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

  6. Add the broth and coconut aminos to the Instant Pot. Use a wooden spoon to remove any browned garlic (deglazed) from the bottom of the pan. Turn off the cooking function.

  7. Return the ribs to the Instant Pot and squeeze them into a single layer. Push bay leaves into broth, if using (optional). Close the lid and set the pin to seal.cooking under high pressure 40 minutes. Use natural release 10 minutesand quick release if there is any pressure.

  8. At this point, you can chop the ribs or leave them whole.

Optional steps for thick sauce:

  1. Remove the ribs, leaving the liquid behind, then cover the ribs defeat Keep warm. Set the Instant Pot to the saute function.

  2. Sprinkle the gelatin (do not pour) over the liquid in the Instant Pot, one tablespoon at a time, stirring quickly immediately after each sprinkle.

  3. simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, until the sauce thickens. If it’s still not as thick as you like, add more gelatin and repeat.
