Prioritize patient-centered care

“The experience we deliver to patients and caregivers is deeply rooted in the past,” said Brian Solis, Salesforce global innovation evangelist and best-selling author, during his Digital Vision keynote.

Solis highlighted the consumer experience in entertainment and retail as examples of how to improve the patient experience in healthcare. To disrupt healthcare, Solis added, there needs to be a balance of iteration and innovation.

Iteration, he said, is “doing the same thing better,” whether it’s using artificial intelligence, augmented reality or remote technology. “If the experience is just an improvement on an existing process, an existing product or service, it’s just an iteration.”

True innovation, he says, is “doing new things that create new value.” When combined, healthcare organizations are better equipped to move towards a patient-centric future.
