Since the first signs of the Covid19 pandemic, as health and wellness trends reach a new level, most people find that a healthier approach. We’ve adjusted our diet, dusted our running shoes, and started prioritizing self-care activities.

However, avoiding health ailments becomes more challenging as you get older. Unfortunately, as we age, our bodies become more fragile and the risk of certain health conditions increases dramatically.

Even so, there are still ways to maintain a high quality of life.

We’ve listed some of the most common age-related health conditions. We’ve also listed some supplementary tips to stay away from these particular ailments as you age.

Older adults can almost expect some degree of hearing loss. However, large numbers of older adults have managed to preserve hearing health over the years.

The best way to avoid this distressing health condition is to live a healthy lifestyle, invest in a balanced diet, and choose to have a full check-up with your healthcare practitioner at least once a year to check cholesterol and blood pressure levels.

Cancer is one of the most devastating diseases afflicting the world. While some children and young adults can receive this shocking diagnosis, it is more common in older adults.

Once again, a healthy lifestyle is key to lowering your cancer risk. Although there are some genetic and other factors at play, sometimes escaping a diagnosis is impossible for some people.

Alzheimer’s disease

It has been reported that, on average, about one in nine adults over the age of 65 suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. This age-related disease is a form of dementia that affects about 5 million people in the United States alone.

Symptoms include memory loss, cognitive deficits, and problems with spatial awareness.

When it comes to preventing this, your best bet is to stick to a healthy diet and get enough nutrients and vitamins to promote brain health. Omega-3 fatty acids and other brain health supplements are great options. Still, it is still impossible to completely eliminate the risk of this age-related health condition.

diabetes is another disease commonly associated with aging. However, diabetes can also be detected early in life.

Early symptoms of diabetes include hunger and fatigue, dry mouth, blurred vision, itchy skin and frequent urination. There are also different types of diabetes, but all diseases in this category affect the way your body processes insulin.

Diet is largely responsible for the development of this condition, so eating well is the best way to prevent diabetes.

Influenza and pneumonia

Our body’s immune system tends to weaken as we age. With this, we become more susceptible to flu and pneumonia.

With this, the best way to reduce your chances of getting the flu and turning into pneumonia is to keep your immune system strong. You may want to consider supplemental immune boosters, vitamin C supplements, a healthy balanced diet and an active lifestyle.

There are a number of age-related health conditions that negatively impact quality of life and significantly reduce life expectancy in older adults. But by following a healthy diet, staying active, and prioritizing regular health checks, you can really stay fit and strong throughout your golden years.
