Leading South Korean defense manufacturer Hanwha Defense will supply 25 Barracuda 4×4 wheeled armored vehicles to the Indonesian police force.
The contract was signed on June 15 by Hanwha and the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia following a competitive international bidding process. Under the agreement, Hanwha Defense, the original equipment manufacturer, will be responsible for manufacturing and delivering the utility vehicle by 2024. This is the second export of Barracuda to Indonesia since 2004, when a contract was signed to supply Indonesia with a batch of 20 vehicles. Indonesian police.

The Barracuda is a tactical armored vehicle with a wide range of roles and missions, such as reconnaissance and internal security. The vehicle is operated by South Korean overseas deployment forces and police forces in Indonesia and Vietnam.
Based on a Mercedes-Benz FGA-specific chassis, the 12.5-ton vehicle is covered with steel plate armor that provides ballistic protection against 7.62mm caliber projectiles. It has excellent maneuverability, with a top speed of 100 km/h and a long range of 1,160 km.
The vehicle uses a run-flat tire, which can travel at a speed of 30km/h even if it loses air pressure after being punctured. It can transport a crew of 15 and can be equipped with a rooftop small-bore weapons station, CCTV, GPS, bulldozer and amplifier.
Hanwha Defense has a proven track record of successfully demonstrating its wheeled armoured vehicles to Asian customers.
The next-generation 6×6 Tigon wheeled armoured personnel carrier successfully demonstrated its state-of-the-art technology in a trial conducted by the Malaysian Armed Forces in 2018.
