As part of the company’s efforts to develop treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, Memory Health CEO Edward Shehab firmly believes that prevention is the best approach. Responding to emailed questions, Shehab spoke about the company’s strategy for developing treatments for neurodegenerative diseases and the company’s outlook.
Why did you start this company?
I watched a lifetime of shared memories evaporate in front of me. This is my painful realization after a pleasant conversation with my mother one day in 2018. She was in the final stages of Alzheimer’s and when we had lunch I realized she didn’t know me. She treats me like a stranger.
Her diagnosis led me to study a progressive degenerative brain disease that causes cognitive problems and changes in personality and behavior in an attempt to protect others from the same heartbreaking scenarios I experienced.
Once the disease develops symptoms, it is considered incurable and irreversible. Prevention is the key to fighting it. It’s never too early to take care of your brain, but it may be too late before you know it.
While researching Alzheimer’s and ways to minimize and slow the disease, I learned about Memory Health, an all-natural, premium quality nootropic and cognitive enhancer. Is this your first healthcare startup? What is your background in healthcare?
This was my first healthcare startup, and it grew out of my mother’s experiences and her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Originally, I worked in the banking industry as an executive and treasurer at a local bank. But ultimately, I want to expand my horizons through entrepreneurship. So, after the bank sold, I ventured to become the co-founder of Titan Global Oil Services in Birmingham, a global supplier of oil and well service personnel. So, I have a lot of leadership and entrepreneurial experience.
When my mom was sick, I needed to do something. I have a new purpose to guide my entrepreneurial spirit. Once I discovered Memory Health, I knew I had to get it into the hands of as many people as possible. Despite my other successes, I use my personal time and resources as a managing partner at Memory Health and do everything I can to prevent other families from going through what my family does.
What is your company’s business model?
Memory Health operates as an e-commerce company, from corporate sales to
consumer. The supplement is sold on the Memory Health website and on Amazon, with subscription options.
Who are your customers?
Memory Health is a product for everyone of every age and fitness level who wants to provide their brain with the proper nutrition. The problem is that even with a healthy diet, we don’t get the amount of nutrients we need to maintain normal brain health. According to the USDA, just one bowl of spinach in 1953 had the same nutritional value as more than 43 bowls of spinach today, and each of us needs supplements to fill the gap.
Memory health is especially helpful for those looking to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia because it runs in families. It is also an effective option for CTE patients, pregnant and menopausal women, and anyone suffering from brain fog due to chemotherapy, disease or aging.
How do you generate income?

We like to say Memory Health sells Memory Health because most of our sales are made through referrals from family, friends or doctors. Four clinical trials have confirmed that Memory Health improves brain health in healthy and diseased brains of all ages.
