Governor Jay Inslee has appointed Shinhae Hwang as the 10th student trustee to the Edmonds College (EC) Board of Trustees. Mr Huang’s term begins on July 1 and runs until June 2023.
Hwang is from Seoul, South Korea. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from Korea University and worked in public relations at Culture Broadcasting Corporation. She went to Edmonds College on the recommendation of a Korean consultant and is taking a business course and studying English.
“The U.S. education system is very different, so I learned a lot,” said Huang, who hopes to enter law school after completing her studies at EC next spring.
“A lot of Koreans come to the U.S. to study, so I want to know firsthand about the U.S. education system and culture.”
“Shinhae has a wealth of experience that has given her unique insights,” said EC Chairman Dr. Amit B. Singh. “Her perspective and passion for student service will make her an important contributor to the board next year.”
