Those who brought included red packets of books, photos, menus, letters, newspapers, clippings, artwork, T-shirts, posters, cards, notes, buttons, cards and time capsules. (Photo by Assunta Ng)
Community members were invited to contribute notes and souvenirs to the 100-year time capsule on the wall of the InterIm CDA project at 714 South Street.
Dr. Marie Rose Wong, professor emeritus of urban planning and Asian American studies at Seattle University, wrote a small note, put it on her marker, and placed it in a small acetate slip sleeve so the paper would last 100 year. “As long as I’m alive, I’ll remember that this building meant so much to so many people,” she said.
A photo of Qin Han (second from right), grandfather of former judge President Lin and former co-owner of the Four Seas, was added to the capsule.
The building is named after community activist Bob Santos, who dedicated his life to the protection and dignity of the CID, who died in 2016.
