- seasoning – include italian seasoningSea Salt And Black Pepper.
- garlic – I used fresh garlic but you can use 1 tsp canned minced garlic or 1/4 tsp garlic powder.
- cheese – Any cheese you like will do! I used a combination of mozzarella and parmesan, but you can use either on its own. (Use only Parmesan cheese for classic garlic Parmesan asparagus.) You can also try cheddar, Swiss, Gruyere, provolone, or Pecorino Romano. If you have cheese slices on hand, you can even use that.

Tips for the Best Garlic Parmesan Asparagus
Making roasted asparagus with Parmesan is super easy, but here are some tips for getting the best results:
- Bend and break. If you want to make sure you cut off the correct amount, you can gently bend each stem until it snaps off. This breakpoint is often exactly where you want to remove the wooden end.
- Save on dishes. You can add oil and seasonings directly to the pan. No need for a separate bowl!
- Adjust cooking time according to thickness. The cooking times in this recipe are based on medium asparagus stalks. If yours is thicker or thinner, it may be longer or shorter.
- Brown the cheese if you like. If you like crispy golden cheese, finish off with the roasted Parmesan asparagus under the broiler for a minute or two.
- Brighten up with lemon. I didn’t make this for the basic Parmesan asparagus recipe, but you could add a little fresh lemon juice at the end, or toss with the olive oil at the same time.
storage instructions
- shop: If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- Reheat: Heat the cheesy Parmesan asparagus in the microwave or in a 350-degree oven until warm.
- Meal Prep: You can wash and trim asparagus ahead of time if you want to prepare ahead of time. Then, simply assemble and bake before eating.
- freeze: I do not recommend freezing Asparagus Roasted with Parmesan as the texture of this vegetable tends to be soft and moist when frozen. Served fresh!
