One thing we want to do is have guests over the holidays! It started more out of convenience, because let’s be honest, in our situation, with three young kids and one on the autism spectrum, going to other unfamiliar houses and packing up all the stuff that comes with that (especially in babies) stage! ), all the noise, the novelty, the change of routine – it’s all more disastrous than nothing. so. We decided to start hosting regular receptions at our home and found that we really enjoyed it! so. Thanks for the discovery, kids! 😉 Yes, we learned the hard way, but that’s okay. We love being at home so if Sam needs a break from the craziness he has somewhere to go and he has his own bed so we can go to bed when he’s ready and not break the routine in this way. Everything feels familiar and comforting, making the vacation go much more smoothly! We often go to two different houses for Thanksgiving (dinner at mine and dessert at Zach’s) and it’s just too much. Thankfully we woke up and over the last few years we’ve gotten everyone here. We cooked a potluck style meal, assigned different courses to different people, and everything went great!
What are your must-eat Thanksgiving dishes? This is our go-to menu and we don’t stray from it every year. This is proven, everyone has their own specialty and it works really well. Thanksgiving is truly one of my favorite days of the year. The tradition of watching the parade in comfort in the morning,
Turkey – Cheesy Potatoes – Brussels Sprouts – Broccoli Salad – Rolls – Cheese Board – Pumpkin Pie – Apple Pie (Zach’s mom’s homemade, yummy) – Rice Krispies (my aunt always makes them for the kids) – Homemade cranberry sauce (yummy)
So, nothing groundbreaking, but that’s what Thanksgiving is all about, right? Tradition, classic food, good company and a sense of gratitude for it all. 🙂
Now we wrap up some fun holiday hosting needs for Thanksgiving!
