Every September 5th is International Charity Day to commemorate the death of Nobel Prize winner Mother Teresa. This day is commemorated to promote philanthropy aimed at alleviating global poverty.
According to the United Nations website“Charity can mitigate the worst effects of humanitarian crises and supplement public services in medical, education, housing and child protection. It helps promote the protection of culture, science, sports, and cultural and natural heritage.”
This day is Observed Globally, this is not a public holiday. It started in 2012.
Mother Teresa won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, “because the work done in the struggle to overcome poverty and suffering also poses a threat to peace”. She died on September 5 at the age of 87.Mother Teresa spent most of her life in India, and the national government held a state funeral for her contribute.
