3 easy ways to upgrade your workspace

Every creative person knows that feeling inspired is like getting extra energy. We work more or less the same time every day, because without discipline, the work cannot be completed, and our colleagues in front of the water dispenser are not so good to us. But when inspiration comes, work becomes an exciting project rather than a scheduled housework. When it comes to being inspired, our environment can have a profound effect on the way we think, even though we may not be aware of it.

When Scout The City had an office, I was determined to make it a cool creative space. I don’t want STC headquarters to be a place where my employees are afraid to come, and I know that my job will be better when I am satisfied with the surrounding environment. Now, we all work from home, but I still try to make my designated home office space one of the positive and efficient spaces. If you are not 100% satisfied with your workstation, or you just think you can use the environment to upgrade, I have three simple ways to refresh your space (space upgrade?).

Decorate the walls

Is there a better way to increase your level of inspiration than works of art? Whether you work in a confined place like a cubicle or in a well-ventilated loft-style office, there is always room for nailing photos and magazine clippings, or hanging some gorgeous prints. When I returned to the STC office, it was decorated with cheeky tropical prints, which made me feel that the relaxed beach atmosphere was part of the workday. We also have New York prints and whimsical swirls of pink and green. Now that we have moved to the home office situation, I am doing this again, and may even get a neon sign that says “good resonance”.

The artwork on the wall will only make you feel a little more relaxed, and the visual beauty can help me brainstorm when I feel trapped. You can also hang up a bulletin board that fits the size of your space and turn it into a mood board. Every month, you can add photos and newspaper clippings of conversations with you so that inspiration is right in front of you. Visual effects are one of the most powerful ways to change your way of thinking and free you from work routines.

Tread lightly

A positive environment starts from scratch. You may not think that the floor will make a huge difference to your work space, but you can completely change the feel of the office by adding a carpet or two to separate the space. Choose a color that makes you happy, a fun fabric to add some texture, or a fashionable pattern that matches your personality. My personal favorite is the furry and chic faux sheepskin rugs. We have white and pink versions in the home office and they make me smile. In addition, they are also an excellent background for lying down shots, and they are also Rio de Janeiro’s favorite resting places.

Think smarter

The amount of light in the space will also have a huge impact on your mood and work efficiency. If you are lucky enough to have an office with a wide view or large windows, you may not have to worry about lighting upgrades. However, if you are not so lucky, grabbing a few lamps and spreading them around your office can indeed brighten up your working day. I personally like chandelier-style lamps or floor lamps with an elegant style. On dark days, some extra lighting will always come in handy. More lamps = more bulb moments.

I never believed that going to work must feel like going to jail. Work should be fun, otherwise your life will become a long list of lives. In order to make going to the office happier, some adjustments and supplements here can make your space more warm and pleasant. This is a happy office space.
