The new Covid-19 cases in the UK have fallen to a three-week low.
The United Kingdom reported on Monday the lowest total number of new Covid-19 cases per day since July 4, which further suggests that the recent surge in cases caused by the spread of the Delta variant may have passed its peak.
The number of new cases fell from 29,173 on Sunday for the sixth consecutive day to 24,950 on Monday. The total number of new cases in the past week has just exceeded a quarter of one million, a decrease of more than one-fifth from a week ago.
Soon after the new cases reached the highest level since mid-January, almost all legal restrictions were lifted in England on July 19, so the UK has been closely watched by health experts and financial markets.

The government of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson judged that due to the high vaccination rate, the risk of serious diseases is limited even if new infections are not completely prevented, so the risk of a large number of hospital deaths is very low.
However, companies report that employees who need to self-isolate are generally absent due to contact with people who have tested positive for Covid-19.
Within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, the United Kingdom recorded nearly 130,000 deaths, the second highest official death toll in Europe after Russia. Due to technical difficulties, Monday’s death toll was not immediately available.
Data on Monday showed that 46.589 million people in the UK received a dose of the vaccine and 37.287 million were fully vaccinated.
