Free college tuition: Wal-Mart bets on employees


Walmart will now pay 100% of the tuition for its full-time and part-time employees who are part of its “Live Better” (LBU) education program.

The largest private employers in the United States have been providing debt-free college allowances, charging only “$1 per day college tuition” and textbook fees to employees. Now, registered members do not need to worry about any fees, and the tuition fees of the program are completely borne by Wal-Mart.

“We are creating a path of opportunity for our employees to develop their careers at Walmart so that they can continue to create a better life for themselves and their families. This investment is another way for us to support employees in pursuing passion and goals. , While removing the barriers that often prevent adult worker learners from obtaining degrees,” said Lorraine Stomski, senior vice president of learning and leadership at Walmart, in a press release.

The plan was created in 2018 Wal-Mart negotiated with experts and concluded that the education provided by employers is one of the biggest factors for employees’ success and progress.

“Our education products are directly related to our growth in Wal-Mart, and what better way than to fill the future talent pipeline with our own employees,” Stomsky said.

The program works with Guild Education to provide employees with advice on which degree is best for them and how to arrange courses.

The Live Better U Education program gives Walmart and Sam’s Club employees the opportunity to obtain associate and bachelor degrees in business, supply chain management, network security, computer science, computer and network security, and computing technology, as well as certificates in skills trade projects .

Walmart employees can earn degrees from Brandman University, Foster University of Pennsylvania, Purdue University Global, Southern New Hampshire University, Wilmington University, and Voxy EnGen.

The company announced that it will soon add four more colleges to the plan, including Johnson and Wales University, University of Arizona, University of Denver and Pathstream.
