Drummer of American Heavy Metal Band SlipknotJoey Jodison died at the age of 46.
Jodison’s family said that he passed away peacefully in his sleep. Their statement did not provide any further details.
In 1995, Jordison became one of the founding members of Slipknot along with percussionist Shawn Cruhan and bassist Paul Gray.
Four years later, the band released a successful debut album and sold millions of albums worldwide.
“Joy’s death left us with empty hearts and indescribable sadness,” the Jodisons said in a statement.
Jodison has been part of the slipknot until 2013. He later revealed that he had left after being diagnosed with transverse myelitis (a type of multiple sclerosis).
Slipknot became one of the most popular bands in the United States while he was still in the band, and ranked first in the Billboard 200 with his 2008 song “All Hope is Gone.
Jordison also played guitar for the punk band Murderdolls and drums for the metal bands Scar the Martyr and Sinsaenum.
His death was 10 years after the death of founding member Paul Gray, who died of a drug overdose in 2010.
