IOC spokesperson Mark Adams was asked about changing the time of the gold medal match, saying that he “is currently not aware of any changes to the schedule.”
Both teams have asked to avoid kick-offs at the Olympic Stadium at 11 am local time on Friday—an early start at any time of the year that is almost unprecedented for football. The predicted temperature at kick-off is approximately 31 degrees Celsius.
There may be a conflict with the track and field events in the stadium later on Friday, although other venues in Tokyo have been used to host Olympic football matches and appear to be available.

Changes in the Olympic schedule involve sports organizations such as the International Olympic Committee, Tokyo officials, football FIFA and broadcasters.
The world champion US team is expected to enter the finals, kick-off in Tokyo at 11 am, and NBC can broadcast the game at 10 pm on the East Coast and 7 pm on the West Coast.
Adams said on Thursday that he “cannot clarify” the process that drives the game.
“Obviously, as any event is rearranged, there will be a committee composed of the National Olympic Committee, the Federation-in this case FIFA-and of course the organizing committee. At this stage, I I don’t know of any changes to the schedule.”
