India The government announced that as part of a series of changes to the international travel traffic signal system, the United Kingdom is one of four countries removed from the red list of England.
The decision means that arriving passengers will no longer need to spend 11 nights in the coronavirus isolate hotel.
Mexico, Georgia, and the French overseas provinces of Reunion and Mayotte will be included in the red echelon.
The government stated that the cost of quarantining hotels is soaring to “better reflect the increased costs involved.”
From August 12, the fare for solo travelers will rise from £1,750 to £2,285.
The bill for other adults sharing the same room will increase from £650 to £1,430.
Transport Secretary Grant Shaps stated that the government is “committed to using the results we have achieved through a successful vaccination program to safely open international travel”.
He continued: “Although we must continue to be cautious, today’s changes have reopened a series of different resorts around the world, which is good news for the industry and the tourist public.”
Health Minister Sajid Javid said that the changes to the travel list were “based on the latest data and expert public health advice”.
He added that the announcement “indicates the need to continue to be cautious” and added some content to the red list to “help protect our vaccine against the threat of new variants”.
