The United Nations Food Agency said on Thursday that world food prices fell for the second consecutive month in July, reflecting the decline in the prices of cereals, vegetable oils and dairy products, but they have risen by nearly a third in the past year.
The Food and Agriculture Organization’s Food Price Index tracks the international prices of the world’s most traded food commodities, with an average of 123.0 points last month and 124.6 in June.
Compared with the same period last year, prices in July rose by 31.0%.

The index fell in June for the first time in 12 months, marking the suspension of the widespread rebound in agricultural products driven by the frustrated harvest and China-driven demand.
