Representative Kim Schrier attacked members of the House of Representatives Madison Cawthorne On Sunday, he made a “ridiculous” comparison between wearing a mask and child abuse.
Cawthorne, a Republican from North Carolina, attended a meeting of the Bancomb School Board of Trustees on Thursday night, at which he condemned board members for passing the regulations on students wearing masks. “You sacrificed our children’s social, emotional and psychological development on the altar of awakening,” he said. “Forcing our children to wear masks is tantamount to psychological abuse of children.”
Schreer is a Washington Democrat who worked as a pediatrician before running for office. He was Microsoft National Broadcasting Corporation.
“What he said is absolutely ridiculous,” Schreer said. “He didn’t follow the science and didn’t put the people who listened to him in his area and across the country at high risk.”

“With regard to the social and emotional health of children, Madison Cawthorne is closer to the age of children than I am, but really doesn’t have any opinion on it,” she added. “The reality is that children need to go to school. What damages their psychological, social and emotional development is that they cannot be with the children because the school is closed. Wearing a mask is not a problem.”
As the highly virulent Delta variant continues to increase the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the country, several states have strengthened the requirements for masks in schools. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy changed his position on Friday and ordered K-12 students to wear masks at the beginning of the school year in September.
California has ordered students to wear masks on school property, and Colorado has gone further, requiring all students and teachers to wear masks, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not.
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Updated mask recommendation Last week it was recommended that school teachers, students and other staff use masks, which is the opposite of the July recommendation. This shift has caused Washington, Virginia, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Washington, DC to require students to wear masks.
Many school districts in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, Florida and New York that do not require masks have implemented their own masks regulations.
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson said on Sunday that he regrets the prohibition on the mandatory wearing of masks in schools and changed his decision in the face of rising COVID-19 cases.
“Facts will change. Leaders must adjust the new facts you have and the reality you have to deal with. When I signed the law, we had very few cases. We hope that as far as the virus is concerned, everything is over but it follows The Delta variants roared,” the Republican governor said CNNof Face the country.
