A 41-year-old Berlin high school teacher was tried on Tuesday for allegedly killing a man he met on an online dating platform and then eating his body parts.
The body parts of the victim-a 44-year-old powerline technician-were found scattered in different parts of the city, and some have not been found. The prosecutor said that the suspect had “a sadistic and cannibalistic sexual motive.”
The crime allegedly occurred in September 2020. The victim’s roommate reported that he was missing.
The defendant asked to be mentioned only by “Stefan R.”.
The prosecutor has evidence that Stefan R’s username on the dating site is “Masterbutcher79”, which has been recognized by the court.
The prosecutor said on the first day of the hearing: “The defendant killed the victim because he sought sexual satisfaction through the murder and wanted to eat part of the body.”
According to a German news website, the German police spent several weeks searching for the rest of the victim’s body before finding some bones. MirrorOnce the bone is found, the sniffer dog can take the police to Stefan R’s apartment and arrest him.
According to reports, Stefan R remained silent during the hearing. Throughout the trial, he also used documents to hide his face from the camera.
Stefan R faces life imprisonment.
The prosecutor used repeated Google searches on the defendant, claiming that he repeatedly searched for the term “cannibalism” and was a member of the online “cannibalism forum.”
