Karlsruhe-The German High Court stated that Beate Zschaepe is a member of a neo-Nazi organization that has carried out a seven-year killing spree against Turkish and other minorities. Due to the seriousness of her crimes, she may be in Spend the rest of my life in prison.
The Federal Court said in a statement that it rejected her appeal against 10 murder convictions and ruled that her crimes were very serious and her imprisonment may exceed the standard 15-year life sentence.
No more appeals. Her exact sentence will be determined during her imprisonment, and in principle it can last until her death. Media reports stated that she is currently 46 years old.
Zschaepe is one of the leaders of the National Socialist Underground, the group killed 8 people of Turkish and Greek ethnic background, and a female police officer between 2000 and 2007.
She was responsible for the group’s logistics and finances, and set up a safe house for the murderers.
It is believed that Uwe Boehnhardt and Uwe Mundlos, the leaders of these killings, had died before they were arrested. This may be a murder-suicide incident.
The court also upheld the convictions of two other accomplices, Ralf Wohlleben and Holge Gerlach, who were sentenced to shorter sentences for their role in the murder.
