Haron Graham won the competition to lead the powerful Unite union and became the first female general secretary in its history.
Compared with leader Steve Turner’s 41,833 and Gerard Coyne’s 35,334, the left-wing player won a total of 46,696 votes.
She was supported by the Socialist Workers Party, and her victory marked a new relationship with union members and the Labour Party.
There were 124,147 votes in the election to lead a union representing more than 1 million workers. Ms. Graham will take office on Thursday.
Ms. Graham said: “I am honored to be elected by our members and I understand that their trust in me brings a huge responsibility.
“Our members want their union to stand in their corner, so I am proud to stand on the manifesto and promise to put our members and our workplace first. I will honor these promises.
“Unite is an incredible force for good in the UK and Ireland, but I am fully aware of the huge challenges our members face in the workplace.
“As the general secretary, I will use all the power of our union to defend their work, raise their wages and protect their rights.
“Bad boss pay attention. Strong unity is the best defense our members can have-my focus now is to build this strength.”
In a recent standard interview, Ms. Graham vowed to female “Cut off” promotions after the pandemic.
She also lashed out at the union for being “obsessed” with labor The party also stated that the political tail has been “wagging the industrial dog” for too long, and it must stop.
The Labour Party leader Sir Kil Starmer wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations to Sharon Graham for being elected as General Secretary of Unity-the first woman ever to hold this position. I look forward to working together to improve the country. The lives of working people.”
