The first movie trailer for the upcoming turn-based tactical role-playing game “Marvel’s Midnight Sun” has been unveiled on Gamescom 2021, giving fans a glimpse of the main plot and some of the most iconic Marvel that will join the battle hero.
“Midnight Sun” is based on Miracle Comic series of the same name. According to Solomon, Firaxis’ “XCOM” team is leading the development of the game. Although they work on the popular tactical turn-based franchise, “Midnight Sun” will be completely different from “XCOM”. Solomon mentioned that the two games will not share any mechanics.
He added that “Midnight Sun” was designed around superhero fantasy rather than the underdog atmosphere of “XCOM”. The superheroes in “Midnight Sun” are the dominant threat on the battlefield, while the players in “XCOM” are almost always outnumbered.
The battle in “Midnight Sun” will still have the luxury of Marvel superhero battles; players can use powerful actions to pound or sweep large areas, and they can interact with the environment to gain a tactical advantage over the enemy. Solomon said that this lofty fighting style satisfies the fantasy of superheroes without affecting the tactical gameplay.
“Marvel’s Midnight Sun” will be released in March 2022, and the gameplay will be released on September 1.
