U.S. Navy Helicopter crash Military officials said that a routine flight took place from an aircraft carrier in Southern California waters on Tuesday.
The Navy’s US Pacific Fleet said on Twitter that the MH-60S helicopter crashed about 60 nautical miles from San Diego at about 4:30 pm, and then launched a search and rescue operation.
According to the Navy, the crash occurred while the aircraft was “performing routine flight operations.” It was on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
The tweet said: “Search and rescue operations are underway on multiple Coast Guard and Navy air and surface assets.”
No other details are immediately available.
The MH-60S is a multifunctional aircraft that can usually carry four crew members for combat support, humanitarian disaster relief and search and rescue missions.
