“Part of that conversation was that you expressed your hatred of Mr. Hammond, and you wanted to knock him down,” Mr. Summers suggested.
“Whatever the reason, I suggest that your mentality is to make false accusations against Mr. Hammond.”
But Ms. Kotis replied: “Your suggestion is wrong”, denying that she “wants to see him homeless and unemployed”.
“What I said in the statement is the truth,” she added. “He asked me to lie so that he would not lose his job as a police officer. He is a driver.”
She told the jurors that she had another incident with the police in 2019 and raised a speeding ticket when asked about Hammond’s character.
“He told so many lies,” she told the court. “Regarding his true character, this is another thing that came to light in a short period of time.”
Hammond, who was arrested while attending a police driving course, said in an interview that Ms. Curtis often offered to take him to and from get off work, and he was “resolutely” that they did not know who was driving the Fiat at the time of the speeding ticket.
“I don’t even know what day it is, let alone who is driving,” he told the police.
