Israeli troops shoot and kill Palestinians in the occupied West Bank

  • According to the Palestinian health agency, a Palestinian man was shot dead in the occupied West Bank.
  • Several media reported that Israeli soldiers and settlers opened fire on a village south of the city of Nablus.
  • While trying to resist the attack, two other Palestinians were shot and wounded by Israeli settlers in the village.

The Palestinian health agency said that the Israeli army shot and killed a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank. Local media reported that Israeli soldiers and settlers opened fire on a village south of the city of Nablus.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA said that a Palestinian man in his 20s was shot in the chest while standing on the roof of his home in Qusra, a village surrounded by illegal Jewish settlements and settlement outposts.

According to the news agency, two other Palestinians were also shot dead while “resisting attacks on the village by Israeli settlers.”

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the victim as 20-year-old Mohammad Fareed Hassan.

An Israeli military spokesperson said that soldiers have been trying to disperse the confrontation between Israeli settlers and Palestinians.

The troops then saw a man threw an explosive device at them from the roof and “fired at the suspect to eliminate the danger,” the spokesperson said.

Palestinians are holding weekly protests against the expansion of Israeli settlements in several places in the West Bank.

In April this year, UN human rights experts stated that in an atmosphere of widespread impunity, Israeli settlers’ violence against Palestinian civilians is on the rise.

Raid in Gaza

At the same time, also on Saturday, the Israeli military stated that it carried out air strikes on “a weapons manufacturing base and a rocket launcher belonging to Hamas,” the organization that governs the Palestinian faction in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The military stated that the attack was in response to a burning balloon launched from Gaza.

Local media reported that a Palestinian man was seriously injured in the attack.

This is the fourth explosion since the 11-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas ended in May.

According to the Gaza authorities, at least 256 Palestinians were killed in Israeli bombings that month, including 66 children.

The Israeli police and army stated that 13 people, including two children, were killed by a rocket fired from Gaza.

Egyptian and international mediators have been working hard to support an informal ceasefire.
