On Sunday, a young child died in an “accident” at Glenwood Cave Adventure Park in Colorado, causing the amusement park to close for two days.
Glenwood Cavern Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, confirmed that a fatal accident occurred during the Haunted Mine Drop ride on Sunday night. Details of the death are rarely released, but the park is closed on Monday and Tuesday because of ongoing investigations into what happened.
The Garfield County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victim was a 6-year-old girl. The incident occurred at around 7:45 pm. Although the amusement park employees performed first aid before paramedics from the Glenwood Springs Fire Department arrived, This is not enough to save the lives of young girls. The fire department announced that the child died at the scene.
The girl’s identity was concealed before other family members were identified, but the coroner’s office stated that she was on vacation with her family in Glenwood Springs. The family came from Colorado Springs, about 220 miles southeast of Glenwood Caverns Amusement Park.

This week, a forensic pathologist at the county coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“The coroner’s office expresses its condolences to the friends and family of the victims,” Garfield County Coroner Robert Glassmeier said in a statement.

Except for announcing an accident, an ongoing investigation and the closure of the park, Glenwood Cavern Adventure Park has remained silent on the matter.
“Out of respect and concern for all parties involved, we will not comment further until all details are confirmed. We express our condolences and prayers to all related parties,” the park said in a statement posted on its Facebook page .
Haunted Mine Drop is the world’s first airborne journey into the underground. According to the amusement park website, it allows riders to descend 110 feet within the Iron Mountain.
In response to the announcement of the park’s death, Facebook users expressed their thoughts and prayers to their families, and expressed their grief for the death of the little girl. Others also stated that they intend to pray for those who witnessed the child’s death, including any employees in the park. Several people commented that they visited the park and felt safe on the rides.
